Marshall Law Group | South Western Ontario (serving all of Ontario & select out-of-province clients) | Flexible / Hybrid

Most litigation roles ask you to trade autonomy for a salary, or income for independence. We don’t think you should have to choose.

Marshall Law Group is a growing South Western Ontario litigation firm looking for an experienced litigator who wants the upside of running their own book — uncapped, commission- based income and the option to practise through their own professional corporation — with the support, infrastructure, and collegiality of an established team. You bring the advocacy; we bring the platform.

Why this role is different
  • You eat what you grow. Compensation is commission-based, not capped by a fixed salary. The harder and smarter you work your files, the more you earn — with full transparency on how it’s calculated.
  • Practise through your own PC. Operate under your own professional corporation if you choose, and keep the tax efficiency that comes with it. Your practice, structured your way.
  • Real autonomy. Take genuine carriage of your files, set your own strategy, and own your client relationships. We trust experienced lawyers to be lawyers.
  • Flexible hours. Build your schedule around your life and your files, not around a clock.
  • A collaborative team, not a silo. Bounce strategy off colleagues, share precedents, and lean on each other for coverage. Independence without isolation.
  • Buy-in health benefits. Option to join the firm’s group health benefits plan.
  • A firm on the way up. We’re growing across Ontario and beyond, and you’ll have room to grow with us — and to shape what comes next.
What you’ll do
  • Manage litigation files end-to-end: strategy, pleadings, motions, discoveries, mediations, and hearings or trials.
  • Take direct carriage of client relationships and advise clients on strategy, risk, and resolution.
  • Draft strong pleadings, motion materials, correspondence, and written argument.
  • Appear before courts and tribunals across Ontario.
  • Collaborate with colleagues on complex matters and contribute to the firm’s continued growth.
Who you are
  • Member in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario.
  • 5+ years of litigation experience, with the proven ability to run files independently as lead counsel.
  • Comfortable in court, with strong drafting, advocacy, and client-management skills.
  • Entrepreneurial and self-motivated — you want to build something, not just bill hours.
  • Sound judgment, professionalism, and a practical, client-focused mindset.
  • Experience in general civil / commercial / employment / municipal / tribunal / criminal litigation is an asset.
What we offer at a glance
  • Competitive, commission-based income with genuine, uncapped upside
  • Option to operate through your own professional corporation for tax efficiency
  • Buy-in to the firm’s health benefits plan
  • Flexible hours and a hybrid working arrangement
  • A collaborative, supportive team and the autonomy to run your own practice
  • A growing platform serving clients across Ontario and out of province

Caledonia , Ontario · Commission-based · Hybrid · Full-time

You’d rather be in the hearing room than the file room. Good — so would we.

Marshall Law Group is a Caledonia based litigation practice looking for a licensed paralegal who’s ready to carry their own files, stand up before the courts and tribunals where our clients actually need us, and own the result from first call to final order. This isn’t a photocopy-and-diarize support role — it’s advocacy, with your name on the file. It’s also commission-based, so your income tracks your results, not a fixed salary band: the more you build and win, the more you take home.

At a glance

Role: Litigation Paralegal (licensed P1, Law Society of Ontario)
Location: Caledonia, ON
Schedule: Full-time, Monday to Friday
Experience: 2+ years in litigation / tribunal advocacy
Compensation: Commission-based with uncapped upside
Reports to: David Marshall – Senior Counsel
Status: This posting is for an existing vacancy.

The work, honestly

Some weeks you’re on your feet; some weeks you’re heads-down building the file that wins. Expect all three
of these:
In the hearing room

  • Appear and advocate before the Small Claims Court, License Appeal Tribunal (LAT), Landlord and Tenant Board, Provincial Offences Court, and other tribunals within paralegal scope.
  • Run settlement conferences, motions, and trials/hearings — examine witnesses and make the oral submissions that move the matter.
  • Negotiate resolutions directly with opposing parties, adjusters, prosecutors, and counsel.

On the file

  • Take real carriage of matters end-to-end: open, strategize, drive, and close.
  • Draft pleadings, motion materials, conference briefs, written submissions, and correspondence that actually lands.
  • Do the legal research that backs your position, and keep every limitation period and deadline locked down.

With clients

  • Handle intakes, take instructions, and keep clients genuinely informed — plain language, on time.
  • Be the steady, credible point of contact people remember long after their matter wraps.
What you’ll bring

Must-haves

  • Licensed paralegal (P1) in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario.
  • 2+ years running litigation or tribunal files, with real comfort advocating on your feet.
  • Strong drafting, sound judgment, and the organizational discipline to carry a busy docket without dropping a date.
  • A valid Ontario driver’s licence and reliable transportation for court and tribunal appearances.

Nice-to-haves

  • Working knowledge of the Rules of the Small Claims Court, Statutory Accident Benefits Schedule (SABS), and/or Highway Traffic Act matters relevant to our practice.
  • Comfort with practice-management and litigation software
  • A focus area — Accident benefits / General civil / POA / Landlord–tenant — you can hit the ground running in.
What you get back
  • Uncapped, commission-based income — your earnings track the files you build and win, not a fixed salary band.
  • Real court and tribunal time — carriage of your own files, not someone else’s overflow.
  • Hybrid flexibility and a predictable Monday-to-Friday schedule.
  • Health benefits — Company buy in plan available
  • A team that backs you — talk strategy, share precedents, and cover for each other.
  • Room to grow as the practice grows.
Why here, why Caledonia

We’re rooted in Haldimand County — its courts, its tribunals, and its people. You’ll do work that matters for clients who
live down the road, alongside colleagues who actually know the local bench and bar. And Caledonia gives you a real
practice and a real life: a simple commute, a small town that’s growing hard and fast, and it’s trails and waterfront for
when the docket finally lets up.
